By way of introduction...

Hello and welcome!  My name is Larissa.  I am an artist living in Saint Petersburg, Florida, with my family.  I'm not the Widow (my Captain is, happily, still with us).  The Captain's Widow is simply where my love of antiques and the ocean come together with my art.

At The Captain's Widow, Persian rugs look better with sand on them.  175 year old books are read by light of a candle in a shell.  A flag is as good a curtain as lace.  And a French scrollwork sconce is best alongside postcards and crooked frames.

The fishermen that I paint are emblematic of this union, also.  While the paintings are new, fishermen, like antiques, may be rough and weathered.  Might list a bit to one side.  But, also like an antique, they have seen some things.  And I love them for it.

And you?  Are you a sucker for a shell on a well-patinaed trunk and a nicotine-stained mustache below eyes that see past the horizon?  If so, then I expect your ship will pass by here again.
